Shoes
No shoes allowed on the mat only barefoot.
Bare feet in the Bathroom
This rule is required by all students, instructors, and visitors wear shoes or sandals while using the restroom or shower facilities. The purpose of this rule is to prevent the spread of bacteria, fungi, and other infectious agents that may be present on the floor or surfaces in these areas. By following this rule, BJJ practitioners can help maintain a clean and hygienic environment for themselves and their training partners, minimizing the risk of infection and injury.
Rashguards
At our Jiu-Jitsu studio, we require all students to wear rashguards during training sessions. This policy is in place to promote good hygiene, protect the skin from mat burn and abrasions, and improve overall performance.
Rashguards must be made from a breathable, stretchy material and must cover the entire torso, including the arms and chest.
Rashguards must be clean and free of tears, holes, or other damage that could compromise their effectiveness.
Students should invest in high-quality rashguards that provide good compression, are durable, and comfortable to wear.
The use of rashguards is mandatory for all students, regardless of rank or experience level.
Protection: Rashguards can protect the skin from abrasions, cuts, and mat burn that can occur during training or competition.
Hygiene: Rashguards can help prevent the spread of infections and diseases by providing a barrier between the skin and the mat. They also absorb sweat, which can prevent the mat from becoming slippery.
Comfort: Rashguards are made from breathable, stretchy materials that can help regulate body temperature and prevent discomfort from chafing or rubbing.
Performance: Rashguards can improve performance by reducing drag and providing compression to the muscles, which can help increase blood flow and reduce fatigue.
